Over the past weekend I met a very impressive fellow while visiting JJ.
In a society that is caught up in our own selfish materialism, it is refreshing to meet people who value human life more than a big screen tv let alone two or three.
This man is soon on his way half way around the planet to give of himself to people who, through no fault of their own, are less privileged than we spoiled rich kids of the west.
It is my understanding that what he is doing in Laos is distributing water treatment equipment and education on proper use of these to the local people. These units contain ceramic cartridges which filter the water to sanitary and safe drinking conditions. All materials are produced in the same country, reducing costs and eliminating customs issues as well as providing work for some.
While most are worrying about making that extra buck building yet another business or toiling at another unnecessary job just for more stuff, this man is foregoing excesses for the betterment of our world.
Kudos to Roland Drake . I am impressed.
btw - these units cost only $55. Most of us should be able to give up a meal to save a life, right?
oh Jim! doing this post to support Roland for his upcoming project for the people of Laos is awesome. Projects like that needs to be known to everyone who can spare some money to save lives.
